Wide ranging experience in the application of safety, RAM & risk management processes and tools / techniques, preparation of safety cases and Independent Safety Assessment (ISA) of safety justification documentation produced by others

Recent projects include: safety case preparation / Independent Safety Assessment (ISA) for a range of new trains and complex on-track plant introduced into UK operation; safety case preparation in support of two major contracts for the new Temple Mills Depot; safety case preparation for a  manufacturer producing signalling control systems for major resignalling projects.

Involved with Yellow Book since its inception

Led project in 1993 to develop the British Rail work instructions resulting in the Yellow Book and personally wrote a significant amount of text

Managed the Yellow Book project from 1996 to 2003, edited Yellow Books 2, 3 and 4, oversaw their publication and led the Yellow Book training programme

Delivered the first version of the Engineers' Overview training course and has since presented it on more than 50 occasions

Significant experience of practical engineering safety management including senior positions in safety management teams of multi-million dollar rail and air traffic services projects in Canada and the UK.
