Rolling stock certification
Lloyd's Register holds appointments as a Notified Body for both the High Speed and Conventional Railway Interoperability Directives. We can certify new build, upgrades and renewals of rolling stock against the requirements of the technical specifications for interoperability throughout Europe. Additionally, the UK and Netherlands governments have authorised Lloyd's Register to verify compliance with their notified national technical rules.
Utilising our approved processes and procedures as a Vehicle Acceptance Body (VAB) in the UK, we can also verify modifications to vehicles not requiring authorisation under the Interoperability Directives, as a competent person under ROGS.
How we can help
We provide a comprehensive certification service to facilitate bringing your rolling stock into service, whether new build or renewal /upgrade to existing vehicles.
We offer certification against the requirements of the Technical Specifications for Interoperability under relevant EU Directives.
We can provide a comprehensive Vehicle Acceptance Body / Conformance Certification Body service for a wide range of vehicles including multiple units, locomotives, coaches, freight and steam locomotives.
We can utilise our various approved processes to tailor a competent person service to meet your specific requirements.
We give practical advice and support in your journey through the certification process - always with a view to meeting your certification goals.
What are the benefits?
Our reputation for independence and integrity gives confidence in the test and certification process and in turn the rolling stock that has been through it.
With certification from Lloyd's Register, you can be assured that the necessary standards have been met and demonstrate this in a robust manner to the appropriate regulatory bodies.
Certification with us gives not only the necessary clearance, but positive feedback during rolling stock development - building quality in, not bolting it on at the end.
