Rail research
We have undertaken numerous research projects for RSSB and Network Rail, including SPAD risk management, the assessment of passenger behaviour, the review of driver standards and assessment of the human factors impacting level crossing safety.
How we can help
Our research work is generally focused around risk management by providing an understanding of what influences people to behave as they do.
Our detailed understanding of human behaviour and the physical characteristics of users support our work to address the major risk areas within the railway industry.
We have extensive knowledge of the human factors influencing signals passed at danger (SPADS), the risks at level crossings and of managing operator performance.
What are the benefits?
This knowledge supports the design of an interface or environment to reduce the potential for human error and to improve usability and performance.
