Rail infrastructure
Railway infrastructure design includes the provision of human factors input to station design, depot design, signal and sign design, signal sighting and the track environment.
How we can help
Human factors in station design, station control room design and other operational areas is about shaping systems and space allocation around the requirements, capabilities and limitations of the staff and passengers that operate and use the station.
With regard to signal sighting, we have undertaken a wide range of empirical research studies to gather information on driver performance relating to signal and sign reading tasks.
The human factors that are key to the track environment typically focus around the management of the safety and performance of track workers.
What are the benefits?
By using established human factors methods, generally starting with task analyses and the definition of user requirements, we are able to ensure that the railway infrastructure can operate safely, effectively and efficiently.
